When would you head to ID?

Say you had a general deer tag for ID north of the Salmon River but south of Moscow. What part of the season would you head out for a week?

It all depends on the weather, which could be anywhere from snow on opening day to 60° highs on Halloween. If you have to nail it down now, the 2nd to last week of Oct is probably the best bet to be there when the weather turns.

Last week of the season.

By then, many people have had their hearts broken and gone home. Also might get some weather (snow) which generally increases the odds of seeing deer and deer migrating. Just occasionally a doe will come into heat early and really turn things on. This all assumes a 10/31 end date to the season of course.

This is gonna be a slight give away but what about with an 11/20 season closing date?

November 7 - if you are planning to jet or float the Salmon to access the unit, be aware of the weather forecast.
