When to replace strings

I bought my first bow roughly 3 years ago, bear cruzer, i dont see any fraying as I wax the strings often. Ive heard people say change it yearly some say only when it frays.
I dont shoot ad much as i should or would like to so its seen mild use at best.
Also any recommendations for strings? I found 60x string seem to have decent reviews.

I bought my last new bow in 2010. Waxed the strings religiously to avoid fraying. Decided to replace the string and cables early last year (2018) as I had a much anticipated elk hunt scheduled and didn't want to risk the string breaking. Archery shop suggested replacing string every 3 years but did admit that my 8 year old string appeared to be in great shape.

I personally, change my strings when they are simply showing signs of wear(fraying). My current strings are 5 seasons old, I keep them waxed and they look great still and no issues with tuning or anything. As far as string choice goes, checkout Rogue bowstrings. Theyve got great feedback

Strings aren’t created equal. A high quality aftermarket string can last easily thousands of shots and a lesser quality one can go less than a thousand. Easiest way is to go by visual inspection to determine when you need to replace your strings.

Or........strings can be like timing belts. They look and act perfectly fine.........right up to the point when your bow explodes because a yoke loop breaks.

I had a factory string that looked perfect, so I kept it for 4.5 years (trying to save the $150). Durring hunting I missed an easy 40 yard shot by 5', and was wondering what the h$&% happened. While looking for my arrow my string pulled apart inside of the serving, breaking my limbs in the process. Hunt over. I change my strings every 2 seasons now. Sometimes yearly, I will forever be paranoid!

Plan is to swap them out after the season. Since I was getting a little paranoid about it.

Going to be giving it to the wife once its restrung plans to get her into the field with me one day haha

I haven't kept but 1 bow in probbly the last 10 years more then a year. I cant see not getting two seasons from a set.
I kept a set that Tom Parknson built me for three seasons and still have that as spare it looks so good

As soon as you think you should start replacing your strings do it, not something to put off. Check out Vaportrail, they sell misbuilds (wrong custom colors) for $50!
