I took a guy to one of my honey holes once. I set him up in a prime spot, set up doe in heat urine specifically for him and his location, to draw a buck in, while he does not get winded. And I hunted a short distance away. The deal was that he cannot tell anybody about the spot, can't post any reviewing pictures, give a general location.... 20 minutes into the morning hunt (we packed in the night before), he had a mature buck down. I skinned and deboned it. I carried 3/4 of the meat back to camp, he did the rest. We rested at camp, cooked up a meal, ate, rested a bit longer, then continued to the trucks and awaiting ice chest.
A week later he made a post talking about the hunt. He gave me plenty of credit in it's success. But he gave the general location away, and described the place to a tee. So well, that anyone with common sense could find it. He also posted a picture of his buck, a wide angle picture that showed 80% of the hunt area. It took 2 years for everyone and their uncle to find the spot. That simply blew that spot to hell.
I am now exceptionally reluctant about giving any area specific information to anyone except personal friends that I know I can trust. I'm happy to discuss tactics, feed... with most anyone, but not specific areas.
With that said, in one area I've hunted for years, I've gotten to know 4 guys, 2 groups of 2. We talk prior to every hunt and after every hunt. We have a mutual respect of not interfering with each other's hunt. So I let them know where I plan to hunt. They do the same. If we happen to bump into each other during the hunt, we readily exchange information on what we've seen. In all the years, one group (2 guys), asked if they could hunt a couple bucks I'd been seeing regularly, so they could fill their tags. Bucks I was not going to take. I of course told them to go for it. That evening, I helped them pack the meat to their camp. They have yet to ask again. If everyone had their ethics and respect that they have shown me, I'd likely share much more than I do. Unfortunately, those 4 guys are a rarity.
Over the years, I've helped a bunch of guys fill their tags. Unfortunately, most want to take from you, anything they can get out of you. Very very few will reciprocate.
