What's your lower body workout?

I ice skate with a parachute for 30 mins before I hit the gym. Intervals, easy on the knees, low impact, high explosive power, and endurance its hard to beat for me. Ive done it for a while now, most gym/hockey training places have them here.(B.C Canada) And I also will jog up the mountain trails as well in the summer when the snow is off them. Other than that I don't do legs at all really.
 
I also have crepitus in my knees that you speak of. I'm also a crossfit coach. When squatting correctly, even with weight, I have no audible crepitus.

In your experience do the majority of injuries in your classes come from poor form, preparation, diet, etc? What's the average age in your class?

Only lifting in a gym is too boring for the outdoor freaks on this site :)
