What’s your go to?

I’ve got 3 of them that I love just depends on the type of hunting I’m doing. Living in Oklahoma I do a lot of nighttime and a little daytime coyote hunting so my rifles are setup around that. Each built on Impact actions and XLR chassis with some homemade buttstocks. It’s really cool to shoot a rifle you chambered too.

First one I’d grab would be my day setup18” 6 creed that I chambered myself that runs a 75 gr vmax at 3550.
Second would be my 24” 22 creed night setup that I also chambered that runs a 53 gr vmax at 3900.
Third would be my 24” 7 SAUM elk and long range deer rifle. Shooting a 180 hybrid at 2850.

Either my Fierce Firearms CT Edge 270 WSM, my Tikka T3X 270 Win or my Weatherby Ultralight 270 WBY Mag.

I just love a .277 caliber bullet.

I keep coming back to my suppressed Xbolt 308 20”, though I killed a cow elk with a tikka 6.5cm. This will have an XLR element MG chassis on it next year.

Tikka 300 wsm,Winchester 9.3x62 and a tc 50 cal. I had used both rifles in Colorado for elk so decided to use for deer in WI. But the muzzleloader was the only one that got action. Next year a howa 6 arc and cva scout pistol 6 arc along with 45/70 Henry will see most of the action.

I use my dad’s Interarms Mark X in .30-06 with 150 gr. Remington Cor-Lokts.. it’s all I need for whitetails in the northeast. Only think I’ve done is put it in a cheap hogue stock (to save the wood stock) and put a timney trigger on it
Agreed....30-06 and Remington cor-lokts!!

This year it was a JM stamped Marlin Guide Gun in 45/70 shooting the 325 grain Hornady. I have a lot of options but for whatever reason that is the one I kept grabbing as I headed out. It’s topped with a 2-7 Leupold. Killed 2 bucks this year. Both DRT

I have three that I use frequently. I also sometimes take something that I am playing with and want to test a new bullet etc.

For moderate range ( under 200yds or so) stand hunting a custom m77MkII in 250AI, 100BT 3 deer this year

For on the ground Adirondack hunting a custom 6lb 20" barreled m77 MKII in 358 Win 200g NF- didnt get to the ADKs this year

For field sitting over bigger fields in NC is use a m700 custom in 7mm-08AI 162 ELDX 2 deer this year

I have enjoyed reading about everyone's rifle choices. I am an old fart though and continue using rifles i have been using for years. One is a Browing A bolt in 30 06, 150 Hornady. Only shot it twice this year both good kills and one was a very nice buck the other about the biggest doe I have ever seen except one I seen in Manitoba a few years back. Recently had a barrel change Lilja.

The other is a Sako 7mm mag. Great rifle and my preferance for shots over 300 yards. May have to rebarrel this one soon due to throat erosion.

I'm told that these are boring calibers. However, they work.
