I'm jealous that you guys get to use the fun guns. We're straightwall here in Ohio.

I'll be using my JM stamped 444 Marlin, ported with a shortened barrel (Guide edition) and 260 Hornady soft points.

My kids will be using either the CVA Cascade 350 Legend, or the Bear Creek Ballistics 350 upper on my AR. Both using 140 grain Bear Creek Copper bullets.

If I tag out early, I may try the 375 Winchester lever gun for kicks.

Remington 700 .257 Weatherby shooting 90 grain Absolute Hammers at 3800 fps. 2" high at 100 yards puts it on at 300 yards and 6" low at 400 yards. Where I hunt, shots can range from straight under my tree stand to 400+ yards across a harvested crop field. Shot opportunities can happen quick, and the ability to take a longer shot when there is not time to use a rangefinder is really nice. The Absolute Hammer performed perfectly on a quartering away shot at 60 yards on my buck last year. It wrecked the heart and lungs and exited on the front of the offside shoulder. I wouldn't trust a cup and core bullet to hold up for that shot angle at that velocity,

In the mountains the 1955 Model 70 30-06 in my profile picture. Here in the Valley on the farm I hunt, 1950 Model 70 .270 WCF, maybe the 1960 Featherweight also in .270 if I can get it sighted in between now and then.

Rotation of :
Christensen Arms Ridgeline in 6.5 PRC shooting Hornady 143 ELDs
or
Tikka T3 Super Lite in 7RM shooting Barnes TSX 160s

Very confident in both but if it had to be one or the other it would be the Tikka

Georgia and SC - RSS (223, 6x SWFA shooting 77 TMKs or one of the Hornady murder bullets), potentially wearing a Rokstok.

Wyoming - Sako S20 in 6.5CM wearing a SWFA 3-9, 3-15 or the new Maven 1.2. Edit - fixed I will be using the above RSS in Wyoming too

I don’t have a “go to” rifle.

I have several in my safe that I rotate through.

But I guess if you forced me to only use one ever again it would be my plain old boat paddle stock Ruger M77 .270 win. It was my first rifle. Mowed a ton yards to pay for that thing.
I didnt mean it had to be your last or only gun. I just curious what your “my alarm clock didn’t go off” and have to sprint out the door. What rifle are you grabbing. No thinking just going. Which are you trusting to do work?

I understand there is usually a lot more thought put into it.

Those M7 have always looked like a light handy rifles. Any idea the speeds you are getting with those TTSXs?

My Winchester 1885 highwall 6mm creed is going to be my main squeeze again this year. I shot 5 with it last year and it was a pure joy to hunt with. This year should be better because I’m having the trigger worked on so hopefully it take it to a nice creep free 1 1/2 pounds. The it will be perfect in my eyes for my style of hunting.

The 6.5 Creed will likely see the most carry until Bear season starts, Then the 300 Win mag is my preferred.

Watchcha running? If you are hunting black bear I would doubt the 6.5 to do the job. But dead in dead and the 300win will do the job well as well.

Mine is a custom 7 saum shooting berger 175 elite hunters. This is the first season using bergers to hunt with. The last couple of seasons I was using hornady 162 ELDM. They worked good just wanted to try the bergers. I might even give the rokslide special a try, never shot a deer with a 223 but the post about the 77 tmk has me wanting to test it.
