This year I am running a 22cm in 16" in a bolt action. Night time can be nice to run an ar platform for ease of folow ups, but feeding issues in cold atmosphere and dark can make for a not fun night.

I tried an AR for night time and i couldn’t stand chambering and unchamering a round in one. Dropping rounds on the ground, making a ton of noise.

Yep, I ran a 22 grendel before the arc was a thing and I used to run a brass catcher too to save my brass I had to form, a 223/556 in an ar would be the way to not worry about brass. I had an ar10 in 22 creed for a bit as well, but same deal picking up brass.

A bolt is solid and will also keep your ammo budget in check. With an ar it was always tempting to Chase them with a few follow ups
