Whats your Cargo Panel Pockets Setup?

thanks for those pics. i didn't realize the large side pocket was that big and could be mounted to the frame directly. kind of seals the deal for me on that decision.

It's a big pocket for sure. It doesn't mount with any factory mounts, clips, etc. I used zip ties which work great. I questioned it at first but after talking with numerous people included kifaru staff, zip ties seem to be the norm for customizing things. They work great and are plenty strong. Can take more detailed pictures if anyone needs/wants them.

instead of zip ties that can crack try using 550 cord to tie the long pocket to the frame tabs. The cord will let you untie it and change things up when hauling a load if you want to move the long pocket. I've actually even moved away from using the cord to running it with a couple of small carabiners or Sbiners for quick reconfiguration.

This setup looks awesome. I'm a little curious how this works when packing meat. Seems that loading it and cinching down the straps would crush the contents of the large side pocket. Not sure what you're packing in there though - clothes etc would be fine.

I am now planning to run two large belt pouches on the exterior like this, a guide lid up top (with my H2O bladder), and small pouches on the belt sides. A 55L dry bag will hold clothing and most of camp.

Napeequa I have hunted the PNW a lot and I never used dry sacks. I lined my pack with a trash bag. Never had a problem. It also keeps your pack clean from blood etc.

For the guys running cargo panels and pockets. Is it less expensive, less weight, better functionality? Curious because it looks like its more of a pain to use that then one of the 25 different packs on the market.

Garbage bag and a dry sack serve the same purpose. One is durable and one ends up in a landfill. Either way, carrying a pack without some type of waterproof protection in Washington/Oregon is ill-advised.

As for your other comments... I'm trying the cargo panel for the first time this season so I can't say how I like it yet. I like the flexibility and freedom of configuration I guess. It allows for a lot of tinkering.

End of the day it will get my camp in and my meat out. If you like yours wrapped in a garbage bag, more power to ya.

For me, I like to carry my bow up the hill in the CP but yet have quick access to rain gear, puffy, and misc day hunt gear. That's for day hunts or fly-in. If I'm packing it all in then I do carry a full pack just because I can't fit it all in pockets. But then my bow goes on the outside in a grab-it and if I want anything from the pack, I have to unload the bow just to grab a rain jacket or gloves.

I'm gonna try something a little different this year. I picked up a cargo panel last year, and an Apollo pack this year. If I run them both together with a spotting scope pocket and gun bearer it works pretty good. And when I get to where I'm going I'll have a nice day pack.

Great thread. I am about to pull the trigger on a kifaru pack. I was thinking perhaps you could run two large side pockets, one vertical side of the pocket(s) would be attached to the cargo panel and the other vertical side of the pocket(s) attached to the frame.
Basically, if you have a box. The side pockets would be two sides of the box opposite, and the frame and cargo panel would be the other sides of the box. (albeit an unevenly shaped box)

Basically, I envision it somewhat like the Nomad, only the pockets can be taken off as needed. I was thinking maybe using the E&E with smaller pouches for after base camp. I would use a dry bag to carry all the camp gear in. (like you would on a Nomad)

Thoughts?

The cable. Set up this way I can release the bow and nock an arrow in 1.5-2 seconds with practice.

I have the following incoming:

Duplex Frame
Cargo Panel
2 x Large Belt Pouch (Molle panel)
1 x Small Belt Pouch (left hand belt)
Gun bearer (right hand belt)
Guide lid

I'm also thinking I'll run a long pocket horizontally on the lower part of the Molle panel. Then I also have a large side pocket I'm considering running inside.

I just added an Eberlestock gun scabbard for my muzzleloader to my CP set up. Looks like it will be really nice!
