What's the perfect pack size?

If you had to choose 1 pack for everything, what size would it be?

For me it's the Mystery Ranch Crewcab. It compresses down to 1900 cu. for the day hunts and opens up to 5000 cu. or anywhere in between for those 3-5 day bivy hunts.

Yes, Aron, where is the 5200-6200 and the 6200+ categories...lol. I'd choose the 6,200+ for everything as then I can pack out the animal with my camp too. Smaller packs don't allow that. If hunting with horses or closer to roads, the smaller packs are fine, but for carrying big loads, I can always make a big pack small, but I can't make a small pack big. Bigger is not always better, but it offers more options....which include options for sprained ankles, blown knees and sore backs...but that is what makes it fun, rewarding and challenging. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

The bigger the better. I like my 7200 Longhunter guide. You can load it up or compress is down for a day hunt. Smaller packs are harder to expand where it is much easier to compress a big pack down if you don't need the space

Back when this thread was first started, my answer would have been different. At this point in my life, the prospects of living multiple days out of a pack have been in my rear view mirror for a couple of years now. These days, I find 3000 to be about right for me, if the possibility exists of getting caught out for a night, and 2000 if not.
