What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

In 2018 I was hunting a fresh clearcut in north idaho during the whitetail rut. The clearcut had a lot of brush in it still and I began working my way through the brush to find a good vantage point. While working my way through, I found a huge boulder. Maybe the size of 4 sedans, 2 wide and 2 tall. The rock was completely covered in thick moss. It felt like I was climbing on a wet mattress. When I got to the top, I found three benches made out of stone which were also covered in thick moss. While staring at the benches, a buck and 3 does jumped about 100 yards away. I ended up laying down prone and pounded the buck, but ended up soaking wet from the saturated moss. At that time, it was my biggest whitetail.

After shooting the buck it was interesting to think, before the trees were cut, it would have been the only place on that mountain you could see the sky from because of how dense the timber was.

Anyways, thought it was cool and figured I’d share. I Should have taken a picture when I was there.

I had AI draw up a photo to help describe what I found.

That is super cool! Did you clean up the broadhead?

It was clean out the box. I went for high shoulder, you know to anchor him. He took off though. Luckily my buddy had his 308 ready and Texas heart shot him. We were hunting on a combo tag.
