Some guys simply go by their give name, with nothing to hide, or nothing to change. Others choose to use a "handle" on forums. So for all of us that choose to create a new persona, I ask why?

I go by Buster because of a ram that I obsessed, and still obsess over. To take him, or a ram like him, is very unlikely, but I like the idea of a challenge.

I chose Shrek because thats how I'm built . Short legs and long bodied. I had to get coustom 28"stays for my pack and buy xxl tall shirts. That and I can be a bit of a misanthrope at times . Lol.

colonel00 - colonel was a nickname that I somehow earned during college and it stuck. Way back when, joining my first forum it was my handle and adding the zeros made it work on most forums I join now. I just like to keep it uniform now instead of having a different handle on every forum.

Eagle is pretty simple. My paternal Grandfather passed away when I was a junior in HS. We hunted together and spent a lot of Sunday afternoons riding around the local WMA looking for deer before he passed. After his funereal, on the way home, a Bald Eagle flew over the road right in front of us. My Grandmother said it was a sign from my Grandfather letting us know that everything was fine and he was in a better place. I had been enthraled by eagles for most of my childhood, and had several eagle paintings, figures and emblems, so it hit a place deep within me. Growing up along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers in the late 80's,90's and early 2000's it was a rare event to see an eagle, so that made it even more meaningful that cold January morning.

My grand father called me littlebuf. Said it was my Indian name since I reminded him of a little buffalo. I still have many letters from him addressed to " chief littlebuf " he died when I was young, has always held near mythical status in my mind since i was a kid. Never got a chance to hunt with him, maybe on the other side...

Mudd foot is the name a hunting buddy gave me after he jumped across an 8' wide mud puddle and i tried to quick step on the surface. Went in up to mid calf.

I like to hunt high, wide open places. Not a real fan of being stuck in brushy woodsy places where I can't see out.. If I ever leave AK I'd head for some High Country Desert in ID, MT, or WY.

My dad had some interactions with the Ridgerunner aka the wild man of the Clearwater in his early days with the forest service. He was interviewed a couple times by people writing books. Also grew up hunting the country the Ridgerunner called home. Additionally love to trail run in the mountains. There are a couple on this sight with similar handles but I think I have a pretty strong claim to it.
