What's going on in Colorado?

Every once in a while I see a cotton tail on my farm here in eastern CO with the virus, but it’s nothing new. I think the first time I saw one infected was close to thirty years ago, my dog had caught it and was eating it. Had to call the vet and make sure it wouldn’t harm him.

Is it bad for the dog to eat them? Haven’t seen any but the easy solution would be a pellet gun or suppressed 22
