Does anyone actually sell stuff on the classifieds? Who is paying these prices for used gear. While all of the above is made up, the truth in the examples is the dumb prices people ask for their used stuff.


Tell me when was the last time you bought anything off the classifieds? For me it’s been a while. From the looks of the ignorance, it’s going to be a lot longer too.

It seems that the more people actually sell on the classifieds, anywhere, the more they have a solid idea of what something is actually worth, and how long a given price will take to sell. And they price at a point related to how long they're willing to wait for it to sell.

And then there are the congenitally stupid, who never figure it out and just keep bumping their own posts, for pages.

I've bought and sold plenty of things on here - the people who have trouble selling are the people who have trouble understanding their priceless treasure...isn't.

I have both bought and sold here recently. Stuff thats priced right AND is seen by the right people sells quick. Some stuff thats priced pretty right, but clearly isnt getting seen by the right people, sits. I can think of a couple really cool finds at reasonable prices that ive seen here that have been sitting for a while, that if I didnt already have duplicates would have snatched up. But sure, theres also stuff thats priced too close to msrp for my taste, but thats universal.

I just bought something last wee, easy.

If I were you, I’d not even bring up classifieds and let it continue to be a bane of existence for the mods. Otherwise classifieds will just be gone.

Folks always forget about tax and shipping.

And then the seller has to drive to the post office or wherever and pay the asinine shipping prices theee days and price for fuel to and from (lots of us don’t live in the city).

I’ve always discounted my sales here greatly for Rokslide members. More folks should do the same. But I’m not gonna harp on a guy selling a $30 item for $25 when he’s probably paying $12 minimum to ship it. Plus a gallon or two of fuel and their time is worth money. Etc.
