If there is one thing I've learned in the military, it's that the equipment you depend on the most I will work until you need it the most. Take extra batteries. No one wants to be stuck on a I untainted with no comms when SHTF. Hope for the best; plan for the worst.
The only true way to find out the items you need is to head out and hunt with the equipment you have at hand. You will quickly determine what is not needed and what you need but not have.
