newer Hoyt with modern grip either cable guard or roller
$350 budget with sights, rest, quiver, stabilizer (release and arrows separate)

Suggestions?

Yeah, I would grab a 2002 or 2003 Hoyt Cybertech in a second. The total package is within your budget and you can find them at Archerytalk or ebay. I have one and have no desire to upgrade at all. I have upgraded components but the bow itself shoots really well and is very quiet. Much quieter that a lot of newer bows. I have shot it with a Bowtech Destroyer and several of the newer Bears and still would take the old Hoyt. It is just a very accurate good bow. View attachment 24852

I have a 2002 Hoyt Xtec that im no longer using. Adjustable cam that can be changed without a press. PM me.

This looks about like what I had in mind for him. He thinks he wants a crossbow and I am going to let him shoot my wife's Kobalt and my dad's Protec. If those don't sell for him then I cannot help him I think. He has never shot bows before and I am really trying to talk him out of a crossbow but in a nice way. That is the challenging part. I have a Tac-15 for comparison for him but I really don't care for it or any for that matter. I bought it for the kids to potentially shoot deer with.

Have him do a 1 mile hike in the woods with your bow than a 1 mile hike in the woods with a cross bow. He will buy a regular bow!
