What scope on Kimber Montana .308?

I agree with Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 with mil-dot.

Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x44 is a good option for the increased weight.

I would think hard on the SWFA 6x42 Gen 2, too. If it were illuminated, it would be damn near perfect for a Kimber 308.

Bad lighting but since others are posting up their pics, here’s my Kimber. I might save an ounce or 2 by switching to the DNZ rings, I could lose another ounce by switching to a titanium thread hub thing for that nomad ti xc.

Very nice work with the weight w/ cans!

Well if we’re posting pics :ROFLMAO:

A Leupold 2.5-8 with the Boone and Crockett reticle (added by Leupold's custom shop) lived on my 308 for years, and balanced well...black bear, brown bear, caribou, sheep, moose (multiples of each). However, after I cut and thread it at 18" and added a suppressor, a Leupold 2-10 5HD balanced the rifle better. So...that's how it sits now. 7lb 9.5oz ready to go.

The past couple years I've hunted more (moose, black bear, and sheep...caribou by the previous owner) with my Kimber Montana in 243, but the weight/balance reminds me of my 308 set up with the 2-5-8. The 243 wears a Leupold 3.5-10 CDS-ZL. 6lb 10.4 oz ready to go with four rounds loaded. I guess I've been lucky, as other than a good dent in the objective bell on a sheep hunt, the scope has held up well...shot a sheep at 250 yards exactly where I was hoping even after the fall that dented the bell ;)

I've mounted a Trijicon 3-9 Accupoint w/ Amber Mildot on my Kimber 300wsm as well. Great scope, just haven't hunted with it.

I went with the Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40mm with the green mil-dot reticle on my Kimber Montana 7mm-08...tough and lightweight. Mounted the scope with Talley Lightweight rings, but would probably opt for the Leupold BackCountries.

I ended up making a few small changes to my Montana 308. I switched to a DNZ scope mount to hold my accupoint 3-9, I replaced it he end cap on my nomad ti xc with a rearden titanium one.

Rifle is sitting at 6lb 5oz with the silencer and scope.

Have you had any issues with slippage?

I just put a 30mm scope on my adirondack in the game reapers and the torque spec of 25 in-lbs has resulted in the scope slipping after a few rounds.

I havnt but I’ve only fired a few rounds since I made the change. I’m hoping to shoot it more in the coming weeks. So I’ll let you know.

My only previous experience with the DNZ stuff was on a m70 extreme weather 30-06, I didn’t have any issues with that. Interestingly,!8 did notice that DNZ used to engrave DNZ on the top pieces of the rings. The one I just got dosent have that.

Thanks.

I emailed them about it, we'll see what they say. I don't want to damage the scope by going out of their recommend spec.
