what scope leveling system?

just had a question wanting to get my own scope leveling system. What would you guys recommend? Deciding between wheeler system or Holland, “perfect every time”.

I use the arisaka defense leveling wedges and have had great luck as long as I'm using a gun with a rail or something with a flat top like a tikka.

I also use wedges when possible. No matter the method, if you plan to shoot any significant distance, do a tall target test to confirm tracking.

Wheeler is easy use and well made. It’s also adaptable to any rifle, whereas some of the other systems I’ve seen require a flat spot somewhere on the action to fit the level. They don’t always fit under the scope or a specific action does t have a suitable flat spot.

How are you leveling the rifle? Or are you leveling to a bubble with this method?

Also, there can be cant in the reticle that doesn't match turret travel. Always verify tracking on target.

I think I’ll get a CTK level to level the gun, use the flashlight method with a plumb bob and get an accuracy 1st scope level and get to shooting. Thank you for the input, I appreciate it.

You have to level the rifle, then match the scope to the rifle. Nothing else besides those two factors matter.

1. eyeball the scope level with firearm and secure in rings, with scope bubble level loosely mounted
2. Level the reticle to a plumb line with flashlight, lock gun in a vise or secure enough to tighten the bubble level
3. Adjust scope mounted bubble and secure it when level

This is free and more precise than anything you can buy

Wheeler kit, with a plumb bob.
Level rifle at rail, add Barrel level for secondary reference, level scope cap, compare cross hairs to plumb bob to Barrel level.

I have the SAC Final Scope Level but I don't find it all that helpful to actually mount a scope or scope level. I just use it as a static mount to do scope tracking tests. I might have put a scope level or two on a scope while in the fixture and running a tracking test before but it's not all that helpful over just doing the same when a scope is on a rifle.

The shit that actually matters is mounting your bubble level to show level when the reticle is plumb which requires no special tools.

I was thinking the OP was asking about this part, specifically. Which is why i asked you to clarify. All good stuff.

I use the wedges also but did I read somewhere that not all turret bottoms are machined the same in reference to the reticle i.e. horizontal and perpendicular? So some caution was urged about using wedges. I can't recall the exact article or wording. Anyone else heard of that?

Wheeler bubble level kit:
Pro: Matching level references. Main and reference levels have same exact bubble size and distance between reference lines.
Con: Kind of fiddly. Assumes elevation turret cap is level with reticle.

Leveling wedges:
Pro: cheap, easy to use
Con: assumes bottom of turret housing is level with reticle. Depends on flat, square surfaces.

Plumb bob:
Pro: Cheap. The most precise way to level. Can fashion a system with some machinist/gun vise, a string and almost any washer, nut, or socket in the toolbox.
Con: Very fiddly. The gun has to be level and stay level through the process.
