Every year as the hunting seasons approach we're asked this question. - what's the perfect hunting tent? We've had a terrific article on our blog for a while which has attracted hundreds of thousands of views over the years and so we'll post it again here in the hope it can help you in the decision making process - https://www.mansfieldoutdoors.com/hunting-tents/

The answer of course is as variable as the number of ways tents are used. Is it a base camp? Will it be backpacked in? So many options to consider. So we're curious about what you think, what makes a the perfect hunting tent for YOUR hunt(s)?

For my base camps, my 14x16 Davis wall tent has been perfect........even solo. I'm 6'6" so being able to stand and have max head room throughout most the tent is important. I also like having the horizontal ridge pole to hang hangers on for clothes to dry. The canvas is very highly breathable and stays dry inside. Using a tank top propane heater inside is perfect for archery season, as that's all that's really needed for that time of year.

For taking camp on my back, I've always liked my BA CS UL3 for solo and my UL4 for two. Has worked great for me.

1. Weight. If it's too heavy, I'm not taking it. Most of my hunts are solo, so I want to be 2lbs or less. I'm willing to do a bigger hot tent and stove, if it's a longer hunt and someone else is tagging along.
2. Durability. This includes material, construction, and pitch.
3. Livability. Easy access and egress, room to move around.

Is the Tentipi tied to the same brand stove or can others be used?

Weight and price for me, you can not beet Appy trails mark 5 unless you buy a dynemee/spectra/cuben fiber tent buy your spending $$$ on those. But for low cost the appy trails is super light, used it almost 10 years, snow rain blizzards. Its under 2lbs you can set it up anywhere, I love it. I have the old version but the new one looks nice.

from a 'above tree line' perspective.
1- bombproof reliable shelter that can be left unattended.
2- freestanding with 1 vestibule per person
3- waterproof, as in no water gets in during multiple days of rain
4- good ventilation

the hilleberg soulo and allak have earnt their place in my kit.

i have two different plans.
Backpack hunting - Mutha Hubba NX 3 person tent. it fits me and all my equipment inside and very good in the constant pouring rain. plenty of room and less than 5 lbs. . it is packable and sets up quickly. This is great on the gulf Islands hunting for blacktail.

If I can driving to where my basecamp is located I have a rockwood tent trailer 232esp - getting older now and prefer the quick setup and added luxury. Also good space for quad.

light weight and super uncomfortable, full bug and critter access, no wind protection, only suitable for perfect conditions.....

...mostly opposite of that....
