First year trapping. Do you keep all pelts skin side out for personal tanning? I have an otter on the stretcher that is now dried. Do I keep it skin side out and send to the tannery? I see at fur auctions, the bobcats, yotes,… are fur side out. So this has me wondering. Thanks

Yes you should leave your otter skin out, (fur in), and send to the tannery. The industry standard for selling coyote, bobcat, fox, marten is for fur out. At a fur sale a buyer would dock you money for not turning those. Otter, mink, muskrat, skunk you don't flip them fur out. But if your just sending them to the tannery it doesn't matter if you turn them or not. If I know I'm going to send a coyote or bobcat to the tannery I will skip the flip and leave the skin out. One less step and the tannery doesn't care. Hope that makes sense lol
