What light weight rifle has been your favorite over the years?

Sako Carbonlight in 6.5cm - 6.5lb with a Z3 3-10x42. I figure it would benefit from a pillar bedding job with the way it acts. You essentially save 0.5lb going to the Carbonlight stock (20oz total) compared to the Finnlight.

Kimber Montana 338fed - 4lb 13oz Bare / 5.8lb with the same Z3.
It’s been fitted with a Ti bolt handle, Alu trigger guard, slabbed action and chopped to 20”

Kimber Adirondack with a Ti bolt handle (4lb 12oz)
It will be also topped with a Z3 and is awaiting an MPI microlite mountain compact to be fitted to it.
Should finish out to ~16oz vs 24oz and I figure should hit ~5lb 3oz scoped.

A rebarreled pre 64 M70 Fwt in an MCM edge stock, I have several and although not lightweight by most people's standards setup how I like they typically run just under 8 lbs. and for me strike a fine balance between shootabilty yet comfy to carry.

My kimber 84m in 308 is great.

so is my browning BLR in 358, about 6.5 lbs, 20” barrel. Not true light weight but carries so well.

Remington sps in 270 wsm. 3-9 vxr shoots lights out! May not be as light I just picked up a 6mm creed and this gun is fun I’ll attach a picture

Nula in 7RM, but I had to sell it when money got tight. My matched pair of 270 and 30-06 Forbes rifles are just as nice IMO.

Kimber Montana 7WSM, and my Barrett Fieldcraft 6.5 Creed are easily my favorites but I have a custom 25/284 on a 700 action that I will never get rid of.

My Tikka T3x lite in 300 winmag. It has been a tremendous value. Rugged, accurate, reasonably priced and light. Checks all the boxes I care about.

I second this choice. I have it in .270 wsm and am happy with it’s all around performance and also weight.

I had a Browning mountain TI 243 that I bought new in 2011. I was a great shooter. I got many many whitetails. Just sold it in February. I’m currently looking for my next light weight rifle in 300wsm.

This 84M has been my best over time. Ti bolt, aluminum trigger guard, many different scopes over the years. 23” barrel in 338 Fed. About 6lbs, depending on scope. Not much I can’t do with that rifle.

This is a new favorite. Not super light at 7.5lbs. Barrett Fieldcraft in 6.5 with a custom walnut stock.

It isn’t an issue for me when hunting. I can’t remember any recoil or muzzle blast when shooting at game. It does get a little tiresome at the range. I try to limit my sessions to 25-30 rounds with the T3x light. As much for the cost as the recoil. 300 win at is expensive even if you are reloading.

If recoil is a big concern, I recommend getting T3x light in 6.5 cm for more trigger time. Unless you are hunting moose or grizzly, that may be a better all around choice anyhow. I think I read 8 out of 10 rifles sold now are 6.5 cm. Should be lots of factory choices that perform well.
