What is your typical shot distance for small game?

I’ve taken 8 rabbits with my T1x 22 in the last week (2 trips out). All of my shots were between 28 and 118yds. Depends what you’re shooting and how comfortable you are shooting it.

I try to stalk in as close as possible, probably 15-20 yards on average for squirrels with a 22.

Acorns have been nuts in New England this year so sit and get them within 10-15 pretty easily. Patiently sitting at the base of tree they’ll come within 10’ often. In the harder or even standard mast crop years 30-50 yards is pretty common depending on the time of season and foliage cover. I usually try not to push 50. Strictly .22 sub sonics for no reason other than that’s what I prefer to use. Best of luck though! It’s hard to beat squirrel hunting for the average day

The rabbits around my usual spots are pretty skittish because of dogs so most of my shots with the .22 or .17 tend to be out near the 100m mark.

For rabbits and hares typical shots are 20-50yd with a 22 rifle, with my closest being 4 and my longest being 120-ish,. I’ll shoot offhand out to around 75, and anything further I’ll shoot off a trekking pole, tree, bike handlebar, or fencepost.

I would say my normal range is 15-50 yards, but I have taken plenty of squirrels out to 100 yards. I'm shooting a CZ 457 AT one Varmint with a silencerco sparrow suppressor.

15 to 40 on squirrels with a .32 percussion. The mid to longer range ones are actually easier at times. The head shot below... 40 yards. Bad behind the shoulder on the other one at like 12 yards.

That’s super cool! What brand 32 cal is that?

Thompson Center Cherokee. Most fun I ever had squirrel hunting. Got lucky finding a .36 Seneca this summer, working on having that as an alternate this year. If you can ever find one or the other, buy them all. You will not regret it.

I went with my 22 lr pistol, what a hoot. 15 -30 yds. otherwise my old eyes can't see them the front sight blocks them out. Tons of fun though.

I track snowshoe hares when it snows. A few inches of fresh snow is best - just enough to cover old tracks and show new ones. Longest shot (not kidding) was about ten yards. They like to find a thicket and simply stop there. Look for parts of the hare - eyes, in particular. I dog would likely roust them from their hiding places and result in a different situation, but I don't hunt them with dogs.

When i want rabbit stew i step on the front porch and whack one at 10 yards in the yard. Fluffy escaping really was a boon for the rabbit population around here..win.. win

Squirrels are typically a close-ish range for me. Probably 20-35 yards. Shooting standing or kneeling at a relatively small target, I prefer to not push the limits.
