What is your every day carry knife and why? Does nostalgia supersede function?

I carry a Revo knife. The model is the Ness. I got it at a sportsman show a few years ago. It’s honestly one of the best blades I’ve ever had. I use it every day for something and only have to sharpen it once every couple months.

I bought myself a mini griptilian with the upgraded steel and handle (I think it’s a 556-1) when I took a new job about 4 years ago, no going back. I keep a victorinox tinker in the truck as a back up.

At work, an original old leatherman. On the weekends or whatever an old Camillus what-a-knife I picked up used in a $5.00 box at a gun show years ago, small and handy. When hunting I always carry a cheap nra little folding knife a good friend loaned me on a hunting trip. I couldn’t find my what-a-knife to open something and gave that and told me to keep it since he had several like it. Later that day I killed a buck and had it in my pocket on a couple more successful hunts after that, so now it’s the lucky knife. I have a bunch of much nicer knives, benchamades and what not and haven’t used them in years I don’t think I’ll probably need anything more tactical than a little pocket knife and just prefer old small knives for carrying.

There's almost always a Benchmade 940 automatic in my front pocket.

I'm not sentimental about much, and knives less than most.

I have had a spiderco for 15 years and I have beat the crap outta it but can't seem to bring myself to retire it. Its been through a lot with me and I can't go for more than probably 30 min without touching it in my pocket. I use it multiple times a day and couldn't get through a day without it. Tons of memories in it

The bench made autos are nice, I have an old 3200 Mel Pardue bench made that I carried around for awhile. Excellent solid feeling action.

Benchmade Bugout or a 940 always in my pocket. Every once in a while I might feel nostalgic and switch to a Kershaw Skyline.
The knives I have that hold memories arent EDC knives.

Right now it’s a Spyder Co Amalgam. I just like the size, blade and comfort in my hand. I also carry a BGoode knife if I wear something on my belt.

Benchmade mini grip has been in my pocket over 10 years. Just never had a reason to look for something new.

The Benchmade Bugout because of how well is carries as it is so thin and light without feeling too cheap. After changing the scales to something like micarta it takes away it's plastic feel.

Benchmade Griptillian is my “sentimental” knife. It was my first father’s day gift. It’s kind of big for everyday carry. I carry a Mini Bugout.

To me an EDC knife is a utility cutter. Never used for protracted jobs. Not a thing I show people and not something I have any sentiment attached to. It's strictly about form following function. I like a lightweight folder with a thinner blade. I have a few autos but have never really learned to appreciate that feature in actual use. My favorite EDC knife will be one that is readily handy, but totally unobtrusive in carry.

I'm a true blade addict, having owned many hundreds of knives in my life. I love a good knife in my pocket. Case, Buck, BenchMade, Spyderco, Victorinox, and several customs have been with me. Honestly, I don't have a favorite particular knife. I have about a half-dozen that might get called on. But a remarkable knife for me has been the very simple BM Bugout. It's blade is just big enough for substantial work if needed, while the overall folded knife is thin, light and disappears easily. The blade shape is wonderful for many jobs from slicing cheese and meat on a hunt, to box-cutting, to cutting cordage....it does a fine job for me.

The wonderful thing about knives, is knives are wonderful things. :coffee:

I had to think about why I like it so much.

It's an excellent, solid feeling action, in a solid, but light knife.

It fires nice, but not hard enough to scare people.
