Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the help on my Swaro vs Nikon spotter question.

I think that I have decided to put my cash towards some better binos as I currently have some decent Leupolds and are looking at some top end binos.

I would say the most I am going to spend is $1800-$1900 as I have been guiding on and off for awhile and do spend a lot of time on the binos vs the spotter, so my money should go to the binos.

I really like the Swaro 10x42 EL's HD and have drooled over them for awhile. This is a big purchase for me and my budget so I want to make one good choice and not look back! Cameraland is having their sale, and it looks like I could get into a pair of the Swaro's for a decent price just within my budget at $1860 or so, is that a good price? Should I wait for a demo pair at $1700, is that worth it than buying the Gen 1 new ones?

Any other thoughts on great glass in that range. I want something reasonably light and 10x42 and great glass. Should I be looking at a Leica in the price range?

Please let me know what you guys would do!

Appreciate all the help, this forum is the best!

Thanks,

I'd say for a new pair that's as good as you'll find and I must say that after having them for 3 years now they provide the best view I've ever seen in a bino and the ergos for me are a perfect fit. I can't imagine you would't fall in love with them...I think you're on the right track, not to mention their CS is top shelf.

I like either of the (2) offerings in the 10x42 format from Swarovski. I personally like the 10x42 SLC's for me better than the EL Swarovision; my eyes like those better, and like the tripod mounting method on the SLC's ( if you are going to do that at all). Also with the new CL deal going those 10x42 SLC would be a great price- what is that deal-20% off?. So, for the SLC it would be 20% off of around $1799; not a bad price at all.

If it was me, this is how I would decide- if your CC can handle the front end buying, and you do not have a chance to check the Swaro's out locally, I would order the 10x42 Swarovski's in EL SV, and SLC. Then I would check them both out and keep the one I wanted. I am sure if you told CL what you wanted to do, they would have no problem with that.

Either of those would be my choice in 10x42

Thanks for the feedback.

Guess I jumped the gun and ASSUMED that the sale was good for Swaro and Leica at Cameraland........its NOT!

So I guess I will have to wait and try and track down a pair of demos someday.........darn!
Any leads on some swaro demo 10x42 el SV? or the SLC 10x42?

Thanks!

I got a pair of 10x42 SLC HD for $1200 on the rokslide classifieds. Thought it was a decent deal. This forum has cost me more money😀

Here's some demo Leica's on sale. https://redhawkrifles.com/products/...fied-pre-owned-leica-ultravid-10x42mm-hd-plus

For my eyes, the EL's were a little sharper and clearer than the SLC's and they were a little more comfortable to hold. It was a tough choice but I ended up going with the EL's. The only dislike I have about the EL's is the adapter needed to mount them to the tripod. There is no reason a $2k plus binocular should require a universal adapter or be sent to a 3'rd party for a screw in tripod adapter.

Thanks for the link.....interesting everyone's thoughts on el's vs slc.

Buckman, if you are looking at this tried sending you a PM again and your inbox is full!

Thanks,
