What do you think of ROTC?

Another ROTC graduate here. Great opportunity. You will be jealous of non-ROTC college students during but it is worth it getting your school and books paid for with a stipend monthly. You will complain about it all four years (or two years, if you choose the shorter option, which I did) but it really does help you mature and grow as a leader. Go active duty if given the opportunity and you will be sitting pretty while all your friends who are not military are poor and looking for jobs.

Tons of good advice here.

I can't add much, other than my nephew is a Sophomore in college in Army ROTC and he absolutely loves it. I think it's a great option that can really start a guy out on a good path.

Heck, it's 30 years now since I got my commission through ROTC. Time flies. Great experience, and the ROTC scholarship paid for tuition and books. I know I didn't get $60k a year in 1986, even with DC area per diem.

I am an air force academy grad, but ROTC is a great avenue! I'd say better in many aspects depending on service branch and job aspirations. I'm still in (21 yrs) so pm me with any questions! Got a ton of guys I work with that am did the rotc route. Best of luck!

I'm just a dirty enlisted Chief, but I think it's great you're pursuing this avenue. Too many young kids these days go to college to load up on student loans and THC and expect the world handed to them on a platter afterword.
