What do you do for work/profession?

Retired/disabled military - doesn't pay much but lots of free time!

I also run a reverse OnlyFans. That's where I sent you au natural pics and you have to pay me to get off the mailing list. So far, it's paid for 80 acres and a new Kubota tractor.

Currently in the process of building our shop building to open our own Type 7 FFL. Got the FFL at the end of last year but haven't manufactured anything yet. Concrete slab is getting poured as I type. #Progress...Slowly

Luckily the wife makes 2x what I do so I guess I am also a kept man/participation trophy husband.

I own 3 blue collar businesses revolving around liquid waste. From transportation to treatment. Owned it for 12 years now, and can get as much time off as I'd like. But being a dad, husband, and the one where the buck stops, doesn't make it as easy to get away as I'd like sometimes.

But I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's what I'm supposed to be doing.

Electrical lead (motor control) and UL 508a manufacturer technical rep for a company that specializes in packing lines for fruit/produce. Enjoy it most days, don't get much summer time off. Get 4 weeks of PTO and use a couple every year for extended trips. Wife and two little girls get more time devoted to them than hunting these days, which isn't a bad thing.

Any airline pilots on here? Bit of a crossroads in there career would love to bounce a few hunting/fishing thoughts if there are any

GM and though very busy, I find a way to break away for 2 weeks per year, plus 4-5 weekends. Definitely would like more time in the woods…. Job gets in the way.

Another GM here. We design and build manufacturing equipment used in several industries. It's a tough business but I enjoy my work. Sometimes weekly trips out of town for work, but also often a month or more at home. I take a couple of 10 day trips a year. In cool weather I overnight hunt/camp near home 2-3 times a month (during the week) and take an overnight dirt bike trip at least once a month.

The way I camp during the week is just leave work several hours before sundown then drive to my hunting spots. Hunt/camp/cook a great steak over my campfire. Sunrise hunt if possible. Head back to the office in the morning and shower at work. For out of town vacations I do have to get a buddy to standby for me.

Farmer, great schedule if you like to ice fish not so great for most hunting. Harvest runs over most seasons and makes it hard to plan trips. Over the last couple years I’ve finally just told myself I need to do 1-2 hunting trips a year.

General/Trauma, just graduated, passed surgical boards and became board certified last week. Going to do another 2 years training in vascular surgery fellowship, so that’ll be it, ultimately.

Good for you. Amazing stuff and that's coming from an OR circulator.

I hope you can find some time away to reset and find some serenity.

Systems Administrator (nobody knows what that means, so I just tell people 'IT') for a smallish credit union. I do everything from coordinating Penetration testing of our network to resetting the same employees password for the umpteenth time.

The former is fun, the latter... not so much.

Self employed contractor - exterior home improvements

love hate relationship depending on the day- but overall has provided great life for me

Has definetly helped the last 5 yrs - the first 5-6 in business i had to be around all the time. After establishing a solid team and growing the business it allows for a lot of freedoms.

I generally do 4-5 hunting trips a year

1. Mohs surgeon/Dermatologist
2. Definitely enjoy it. I much prefer procedure days over clinic, but I can’t complain. Normal hours and no call.
3. I get to hunt quite a bit - at least a couple weeks a year and several weekends.
4. Nine years of medical training meant basically no hunting during that time. I’m almost 3 years out post fellowship, so now my time is quite a bit more flexible.

General/Trauma, just graduated, passed surgical boards and became board certified last week. Going to do another 2 years training in vascular surgery fellowship, so that’ll be it, ultimately.

I hope you guys are nice to drug reps.

1. Heavy equipment operator for large civil projects, mostly bridges and large underground utility.

2. I really enjoy the work but not always the hours. It’s fast paced and I am faced with new challenges every day and always striving to be better with the levers than I was the day before. I get out and labor a lot too as needed which keeps me in good shape.

3. I probably dedicate 20-30 days a year in the field between scouting and shed hunting, and actual time with a gun in hand. I’d like to get more days by going on more out of state hunts but that just hasn’t panned out yet!

4. My job helps some years, hinders others. I’ve had years where we are slow enough during season or prime scouting that I can get some good 3 day bonus weekends in, and then other years where we are working 7 days a week 12 hours a day for months on end. Those years, even if the big hours aren’t during season, can still hinder as I need to prioritize being with my wife and kid after being in a grind like that!
