What do we think this bear was eating

Acorns or other mast? Usually where I hunt there are no oaks but I'm in an area with a lot of tan oaks and some bays. I'm not sure if they'll eat tan oak acorns but that's what this looks like to me. Found a ridge with a pretty epic amount of bear sign so I'm excited about that.

Oregon, south coast. I should say that where I usually hunt, you will find a stand of tan oak here and there, but usually it's a pretty small number.

Interesting, not familiar with that one. According to this distribution map, they are very close to the area I'm in, like one river drainage to the south. So could be
