I had to post this up, as I actually surprised myself a little in pulling it off.
Months ago, myself, my wife and our parents agreed that a surprise playhouse would be the "big" present for my two little girls this year. I was to build it and everyone would help with the expenses. No problem, right?
I had one of the busiest fall seasons with work ever, and an unbelievably busy hunting season that wrapped up the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Time to get to work on the playhouse. I was comfortable with the time frame, nights and weekends would be plenty, but it always comes down to the wire. the building went smoothly, a few logistical headscratchers....but no major issues. the problems came in the form of all the other things that need to be done this time of year with the holidays approaching.
Anyway, I pulled it off. I hung the door on Christmas Eve morning before work and my brother helped me get it from the shop to the yard that afternoon while the girls were at Grandmas.
I
We came home after dark on Christmas Eve so the secret was safe until morning. We wrapped a big mailbox to put under the tree. our 4 year old was a little bit confused by that so I explained that Santa knew she really wanted a playhouse and he agreed to provide a mailbox if I would build it.
It was/ is a big hit to say the least.
....interesting thing is, one of the gifts for my wife this year is a chicken coop....to be built by me, by spring time....probably start on that around Easter or so.
I Hope everyone had a great Christmas! and I hope the new year finds you well.
