I am a big photo guy when I'm in the mountains and I'm interested in seeing what cameras people are packing in with them for both scouting and hunting.

My camera setups vary depending on the situation but one of these is what I will grab. The point and shoot is for hunting only. I dont pack my big camera in for that at all.

Canon 7D w/ Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8 - this is my big DSLR setup
Leica D-LUX 6 - Just got this today but will be my point and shoot

I have multiple lens varying from macro to telephoto but those aren't packed in.

Nice! If you get out here to scout and need another set of eyes shoot me a PM. I'm out scouting almost every week once the snow melts. I'm probably going to be with Aron most of the time this year so we can get a good group out there

I always take my Nikon D90 or D7000 with a 18-200mm Nikon lens. Backcountry hunts are often the ones where I see and experience the coolest things and best scenery. I want to have the best pictures possible of those things to share with friends and family later. I do sometimes take a Canon PowerShot SD 780 IS as a backup since it is so small and easy to take along.

Olympus TG-1...hate having to worry about rain or splashes and what not while packrafting and hunting. So waterproof with 1080 video and the ability to digiscope with it and being only like $280 makes it worth it for me....so much so that I bought one for my wife to use as well.

I carry my Canon Rebel xs. It's pretty heavy and I never end up taking pictures while hunting. I plan on using my Iphone for quick pics and video this year.

Same here. Photo quality isn't up there with the Cannon G10 by any stretch, but it's the first point and shoot I've found that will reliably take photos in WELL below zero temps. I used mine all winter between -10 and -30 F. Battery life in my example is quite good for a point and shoot.

The aperture also goes to f/2.0, which allows me to avoid using flash in low light most of the time. A pretty nice perk for about half the year in Alaska.

I will be using an Olympus E-PL3 this year. Seems to be the in between point and shoot and DSLR for both size and quality...

Yep battery life is good, but I have 4 extras or two apiece for each camera when going on fly outs...can never take too many pics.

Like ya said not on par with super nice cameras, but then again I can get shots that I wouldn't normally bother to take due to the hassle of taking a camera out of a waterproof bag or the like. Having in the waistbelt pocket when its pouring no matter what I can pull it out and snap a pic. I killed a cannon camera last summer that I had in a ziplock bag that suffered a hole while riding in the top lid of my pack...dead camera....never again with the non-waterproof point and shoots. If I was wanting to take nice pics on a trip the Nikon J-1 or Sony NEX is what I'd likely choose, but it'd be well protected.

GoPro H3 for me. Can't wait to use it this season. Hopefully I will get quick and efficient with it during scouting this summer so that its not a burden while I'm hunting

Olympus Tough 810. Good video, 14 mp stills, water proof, freeze proof, shock proof and good battery life. Put it in the waist belt pocket and do not worry. If need the zoom, just digiscope it.

I have my old work horse Olympus 790. Its the grandpa to the TG-1 system out now.

With the sheep hunt coming up and my gear budget pretty much blown on light backpacking stuff to replace my heavy truck/boat hunting stuff I am still thinking of a new camera like the TG-1 to capture a higher quality image than the tiny 790. I 've got to finish up buying stuff before summer work hits.
