Hey, I am getting glasses for first time, and refuse to wear contacts it's just too annoying to try and get in and out.

Anyone know of a eyeglass brand where i can get prescription glasses that have a wrap around style/easier to shoot with a bow and not fall off my head while hunting?

Any help thanks!

You think contacts are annoying, wait until you try glasses.

What kind of contacts did you try that are annoying to get in and out? I don't even have to think about my contacts, I put them in.......I take them out. And the rest of the day, no glasses to drive you crazy.

I've been wearing glasses for 35+ years. The last several pairs I've gotten are from Zenni. If you only need basic lenses they are fairly inexpensive. Sunglasses and transitions are not too much more. They have a spot that allows you to upload a picture and they overlay the glasses so you can get an idea of how they may look. I've had expensive glasses that had lousy lenses and frames that wore out and cheap ones that were perfect. I'm getting ready to order my first pair of bifocals; they are starting to get expensive now. Don't put too much thought into brand; some large company owns like 80% of them and they all come off the same production lines.

thanks, I ordered my first pair of prescription eyeglasses from warby parker, but I was thinking there would be a better style/form of eyeglasses available like a wrap around (sorta like protective eyewear style) that would be maybe able to get to help with peripheral sight and not falling off head more? not sure if that's out there thats available in prescription single vision

I'd try some of these before I spend 2 grand on glasses.

I have no problem shooting my bow with a pair similar to these:

There are some videos on youtube by an "eye guy" (I don't remember his professional credentials) on this topic which are very good.

Not sure if there's such a thing with wrap-arounds where your loss of peripheral vision can be mitigated, but while hunting in "regular" glasses that loss is a thing.

I don't know what kind of lenses you will be getting, but in addition to the frame needing to be unobtrusive, you may need to be careful what part of the lens your eye(s) must look through to get a good pin/target picture. I can see this being a consideration with progressive lenses and other special types, but I personally haven't had an issue. Maybe I'm just lucky, LOL. Talk it over with your eye guy.

For frames, Oakleys generally sit tight to your head, and I had a pair of Nikes that I loved for the fit and rubberized ear-pieces, which kept them on my noggin.

Just looking for single vision, distance slight prescription with a nose bridge that won't get in the way of aiming with a bow.. pins not being blocked when shooting with a bow hunting

I don't think you'd have a problem with any rimless frame that fits you, then.

I like the "titanium" type frames (flexible, "unbreakable"). Flexon would be an option.

I used the Wilyx prescription too - got them for military and than when out at the workplace as prescription safety glasses. They worked great although a little goofy when not in the woods or at work 🤣. I also have a “normal” glasses pair of Oakley frames that also have a little curvature to the lens that I really like. Most eyeglass places will have some options for you. I’d asked my optometrist and he made some recommendations (he’s an avid shotgunner). I’ve tried contacts a few times and my eyes won’t adjust to them - glasses are a little annoying at times but a lot better than not being able to see.

I had this company make me a pair of ray-ban balorama in prescription with transitions. They also made me a pair of Spy brand with the Transitions drivewear that are polarized and get darker in the sun. Not cheap, but they will make a lot of different frames in to glasses for you.

I tried the contacts and I hated them. Tried to get used to it, but couldn't. Mine had to be put in the correct way because of astigmatism. I put off getting glasses for a while until my buddy told me "shoot that coyote" and I was like, what coyote ?!
