What bipod is everyone running?

Ckye Pod triple pull. I use the R3 legs when hunting and the stock legs when shooting comps.

No bipod. I still have a Harris bipod sitting around but it never goes on my hunting rifles anymore. Trekking poles when hunting out west. Cheap bog pod dead shot for when I’m hunting on the east coast in a blind or similar.

Not to derail too far, but does anyone see POI shift when shooting from bipod vs off bag/pack? Usually I just shoot off a pack but was thinking a bipod might give a little more versatility and quicker set up. I don't mind the weight.

If I'm opening a can of worms here, mods can delete and I'll do more searching around for other threads on this.

I got my first Harris in the late 1980's and still like them. I own maybe four of the 9-13" Swivel models now and they're my favorite. My longest shot was with one (bull elk, 451 yards) but my first elk was with a taller model, seated.

But they're either really long and bulky or they're limited to use in fairly open terrain (or a bit of both). I'm learning to use trek poles for a front rest with an arrow shaft attached to one pole, to make a third leg, for stability, and a pair of shortened arrow shafts to make a rear set of cross-sticks.

Those are definitely much slower to deploy than a Harris bipod - if I have a clear position to go prone from I can often get a shot off with the Harris in under 10 seconds but it can easily take 30 seconds or more to get the trek poles crossed, get the third leg out front, then get the rear crossed sticks lined up. Using a pack for a rear rest would likely be faster, but only if you're planning to always have a pack with you in the first place.

In short I'll always have a use for Harris bipods but they certainly aren't the only option or even the best option.

I do not.

What I *do* see is a POI shift if I put any torque on any rest - I have learned that with the trek poles front and crossed sticks rear setup that I use a lot now, it's slow to get the rear sticks in position to line the rifle up perfectly, and if I try to rush a shot by pushing the sticks to get the rifle to move left/right, and I break a shot with side-torque on any part of the sticks, I get more dispersion.

In short, barrels need to be free-floated of course, but the rest needs to be resting more or less freely. If you try to manhandle your gun into position so that there's torque in the rest, it'll make you miss.

Hatch bipod for me. It’s either on the rifle if I’m cruising a ridge or glassing. Otherwise pop it off and stash it in the side of my pack. I don’t mess with short bipods hunting.

I have a Spartan javelin lite, but I rarely shoot off of it. It’s mostly used when I set my rifle down. I generally shoot of my tripod.

I swap between three. Ckye pod double pull for grouping/zeroing or if I’m not to worried about weight while hunting. Gunwerks for most of my hunting. Atlas PSR as my do everything bombproof bipod that I swap between all rifles.

I use a Harris as well. I am on the hunt for something that is Arca friendly for a new rifle.

Harris, only one I have ever used. Have had it for close to 20 years.

As for poi shift, it’s not a long test but out too 300, no shift for me from bipod, soft rest or hard rest.

I've always run Harris because they work. There's way fancier stuff out there nowadays, but I haven't found a reason to try them because the Harris works for me.
