What are your Rockslide pet-peeves?

I don't have any. I got plenty of things to aggregate me other than a hunting forum. I come here for the love of my sport and outdoor lifestyle. Just yesterday the neighbor kids crossed my lawn without my written permission. I had to stop tying flies to open the window and holler at them. Then the next thing I know the young buck that lives across the street had the gosh dern nerve to fire up his weed whacker and do some trimming on a Sunday against HOA rules and bi-laws. So you see I just don't have the energy to be pet peeving with you nice fellers ( and gals) (you catch heck if you’re not inclusive these days). So you’re safe.

Now, you know you don't have a lawn in Fort Myers. :D

I hate when I open the forum and go to hit the refresh/lightning button and the company add page on the top of the forum lags down at the same time. Automatically brings me to the company’s page.

It’s always the Tricer add too, which pisses me off even more.
This is incredibly annoying. Happens all the time.

I had a pine straw lawn when I lived in SC.
"Pine straw, oak leaves ... Whatever it takes..."

(Apologies to Mr. Mom ...)

But it is the proper answer to whoever asks how you're tending your "lawn."

Full disclosure: Not every girl who seems like she wants to snuggle
up with you will go for this in the long haul ...

LOL

220-221, how many people got that? Obscure. You should get bonus points for it.

I really hesitate to call this a pet peeve because in my experience this is one of the best-run forums I'm a member of, and I'm one of those people who hates "logical fallacies" - of which the Nirvana Fallacy is absolutely one of them. To assume we could ever have a "perfect thing for everyone" would probably require "everyone" to be just one person whistling into the void. 😀

That being said (and I'm as guilty of this as some others) when "we" are in the off-season we get a much higher percentage of off topic posts, especially those heavy on religious or political opinions. It's complicated because:
  1. It's not actually against the rules (although "we" also do often stray pretty far in those threads from the "When posting, no name-calling, whining, crying, sobbing, bitching, sniveling, sulking, bickering, complaining, or pouting!" rule,
  2. Many of those discussions often do have some relationship to hunting even if not directly, and
  3. "We" are all humans, and often times our non-hunting-related beliefs have a lot of crossover to US to our hunting beliefs, even if others might not always see things the same way.
I do see a lot of threads lately where people are more sh1tty to each other than a) serves any actual purpose unless the goal actually was to belittle the other person and b) appears to have no value to the concepts of hunting at all. But hey, again, Nirvana Fallacy - how can you have any Nirvana without some Fallacy?

Despite all that I do wish even those of us who (apparently, given the tone of some recent threads) hate each other (without ever even having met one another in most cases) would temper it with the realization that the VERY MOST right-wing and VERY MOST left-wing members of this forum still have a ton more in common than even the most mild-mannered average non-hunter does. We all win or lose many of these fights together, but it seems like we spend most of it bickering here.

I'm no genius and I'm wrong as often as I'm right but I'm pretty good at seeing patterns and I have a box full of 5- and 6-leaf clovers (I stopped gathering the 4's) to back that up. This post will probably fade into the vacuum, but hey, can't know until you try, right?

Depends on the context a bit, but I don't think most people have any issue with bumping old threads. I'd say that's preferable to starting a new one for the most part.
I think people jump down people's throats when a guy with a 2 post count, who is racing to the classifieds, comments "I agree" on a thread from 2016.

Since I don't buy anything used, I'm not a huge fan of seeing the For Sale adds pop up when I select the "New Posts" button. But i can live with it.
When you click on New Posts hit the filter buttonIMG_5763.jpeg

This box will come up

Then click on Only selected nodes box,
Hit the drop down box with items and select all the forums and sub-forums you want to see when you click New Posts, you won’t see classified if you have them deselected
