What are your Rockslide pet-peeves?

That's basically the mirror image of the most used argument when people are talking about their scope they've used for 75 years which has never lost zero. It's a failure of the US education system for this many people to have no grasp of the concept of averages.
I’m quite happy that my wife doesn’t understand what average is…

I saw a thread recently where a guy was asking for boot recommendations. He said he only needed to walk about 100 yards to a tree stand. Crispi boots were the #1 recommended boot because they are the best out there. These dorks suggested a $400 boot to a guy needing to walk 100 yards.
Hahahaha, missed that thread. Premise of asking for a boot for a 100 yard walk though?

The people who like to sound extra smart and use “ nuance “ every chance while staring at their poster of the head meatbeater .

The it’s on federal land so I should get resident tag prices because I pay my taxes.

When newbies (it’s always newbies) ask “what are your top 3/5/10/whatever tips/hacks/gear picks.”

Idk why it just irks me

My pet peeve is when guys start throwing insults or turn really negative in a thread, adding a bunch of judgment, based on conjecture and then continue the argument ruining the thread.

I think it's a bad impression of our community as a whole.

I frequently type a response, only to erase it and move on.

I've done this a couple times. Trying to do it more so lately. Not trying to give realunlucly to have a reason to can me. 😂

Folks who come in and wanting a political forum, and no matter what it's their right. Fully makes me want to learn where they live and send a box full of dog poop to their door.

Folks whose only goal is to be a total dick, fully disrespectful and on a high horse.

The mods when I'm out of line. (I personally think I'm a saint but apparently not)

Another pet peeve: there is a small subset of people on here who seem to feel it’s their job to be the contrarian and keep the pot stirred, no matter the subject. The thread could mention the fact that the sky is blue, and one of these individuals will comment after a few pages of civil discussion that the sky is actually red, and that they don’t care what the evidence is or what proof exists or how the information was gathered, they know it’s red, because it’s red.

To the OP, sometimes you’ll be tempted to be this contrarian, and just remember it’s ok to just read through a thread and just move on to the next one without stirring the pot.

Last pet peeve: Someone has been a member of rokslide for years and years, and their post count is still in low-mid double digits, and they jump into a thread and start hurling comments and stating their facts without having built any rapport or getting to know anyone or “reading the room.”

To the op, you’ll gain as much as you give on rokslide, it’s transactional in the sense that we all have things to learn, but we also all have things to share with others. If you only login sporadically, and rarely comment, and don’t interact with others, don’t be mad if people don’t offer help for on hunts or throw you deals when they come up. Take time to read the common/infamous threads (223 thread, scope drop evals, alone guy, 270/finger of god guy), make comments on NEW threads (not 5 year old necro-posts) on subjects you have some experience with, and take time to become part of this great community. I’ve never (knowingly) met anyone from rokslide in person, and don’t know anyone by first name except the people I’ve bought/sold items with. But even with that it’s become a community where we can all (for the most part) be ourselves and share info, and enjoy ourselves too.

Oh, and last thing: DONT POST UNIT NUMBERS/NAMES. EVER.

Welcome to the thunderdome Rokslide, kick off your boots and stay awhile

Who asks for advice on boots to walk 100 yards? Dumb questions get dumb answers.
