New here to this forum, already read some good articles.

As for this season's elk hunt, I finally quite collecting points in Wyoming and drew the unit I was looking at, Unit 38 in the Big Horns. It will be a solo rifle hunt and it starts right after a Antelope hunt that I figure I'll draw in Wyoming as well.

Already knee deep in maps of the area, follow up with Google Earth, got a couple people that I am in touch with from another site that live close by and spoke with the biologist today on the phone.

Talking my brother-in-law into applying again this year. We talked about just buying a point this year and doing a tag in 2013. I say lets have at her again this year! Life is short. Hunt often! I hope to get him inspired Sat. I don't know how I'm going to settle for local whitetails this year. I'll go crazy. I got altitude sickness really bad. I hate being below 10,000 ft now, lol!

Hey TwoTikkas, I used to suffer with altitude sickness sometimes real bad, but I started taking Ginkgo Biloba a couple months before hunting season starts and no more altitude sickness. Give it a try it worked for me, sure beats throwing up and headaches for the first day out

Thanks NoMoreOldNo7. I too use Ginko. Grape seed too. The only altitude sickness I have now is being stuck here at 2,000 ft.,lol. I miss the mountains.

This will be my 12th years for the Colorado Pref Point chase. I'm applying for GMU 61 Archery Elk and should draw.
A friend of mine grew up in the area and he is going to give the the 'local intel'. He has taken and helped guys take some DANDY bulls there.

Wont know until June, but Im already getting excited!

First year for an OTC Idaho elk hunt. Moved from MT to OR in August and don't want to pay the out of state fees for MT. Plan on doing some back country hunting the east side of OR in the early season for some elk.

I don't have any yet but if someone needs a lowland packer for a hunt the third week of October give me a shout I'd love to tag along and I should just be getting done with 2 weeks of solid mountain goat hunting on Kodiak so I won't be in terrible shape ;)

After striking out in Idaho on our very first elk hunt last year my brother and I are trying montana this year. Met a good outfitter at the sacramento ise that week hooked up with. Still a public land hunt but will be nice to be with someone who is knowledgable!

Three or four days in WA's early season in a wilderness area.. Then, on to a glorious two week adventure in Idaho (first year I've hunted ID). Gonna do two backcountry trips for 5+ days. Looking forward to it.. RJ

Washington OTC Archery Roosevelt. Then head to Montana for a trip into the Bob Marshall on a rifle elk/deer hunt (if I get my big game combo) with Montana Backcountry Outfitters.

I'll be putting in for a very very coveted tag her in Idaho and if that fails me which it prolly will I will focus on deer and antelope and if I have any (at least a weeks worth) of vacation time left I may head up and try an OTC archery hunt... And if that fails I will be doing a late season spike hunt...

I am waiting on the Oregon draw, but the Lord willing, I will be in Eastern Oregon in August and September for elk and deer regardless. The exact location is still to be determined. I may shoot another buck off my back porch in September if I come home early with an elk and no deer, or could wait for the late Blacktail season. I enjoy the late Blacktail season but also get tired of the the deer feeding on my store bought plants. I should not complain as the neighbor is fattening the deer real nice on store bought apples too.
