Im looking for something that i can drink as a recovery drink in the evening at camp. Im new to these protein style shake drinks but i have heard some great success from them. I have a buddy that hunts and swears by something called jacked up or whatever.

What do you guys recommend.

Endorox R4 has helped me for hunting and training recovery for the last 4 years or so. NUUN tablets with emergen-c for hydration.

I do the Chocolate flavor from Costco. $45 for a huge bag. If you buddy is talking about "Jack3d" I think that is a pre workout supplement that had some seriously negative press after a few people died from heart attacks related to it. Thats a little differnet than a protein shake. I would go with Wilderness Athlete "Energy & Focus" If you are looking for a energy booster. If you are looking for something to refuel with after a day of hunting when you get back at camp Id go with the Wilderness Athlete "Hydrate and Recover". Probably lots of options but I tend to try and support companies that support hunting. Such as Wilderness Athlete.

Gasparri Myofusion. I have gone through about all of them over the years and it is bar-non the best I have found. Best texture best tasting 25grams per scoop and reasonably priced.

I use Labrada Lean Body meal replacement mainly because they come in individual packets, they are light, have a lot of other things needed to repair your body and are a pretty good calorie intake. Before that I used Myoplex but we are unable to get it in Canada anymore.

For recovery, I like the progenix vanilla. After crossfit it seems to really help with not having muscle cramps the next day.

Just my .02 but Protein shakes are generally considered meal replacements. Recovery drinks are in a different class as there goal is to replenish the glycogen stores. Personally I wouldn't sweat the recovery ideal and just eat well. You're in the mountains, you're gonna burn a lot of calories. Carbs should be the concentration for recovery, twice as much as proteins. Simple carbs are where it's at. Quick and easy stuffs.

Case in point, I ate like a horse on last years float hunt. Likely 3500 calories a day. In the end I still burned 26#.

Hammer nutrition recoverite or whey.

Iv tried quite a few brands, but Hammer is the ONLY brand I have found that I can easily digest. A little pricy but ill continue using it.
