What are you drooling over?

In my younger days I won the wife lottery.

This OIL lady gifted me a Bison hunt for my upcoming 60th bday.

I have decided that I want to do this hunt with an original Winchester lever gun 45-70 or 45-90
Been lusting for one for years. Now I have a good excuse.

I have been studying, learning, and watching all of the info that I can soak in.
Narrowed it down to a Winchester 1886 with full octagon barrel, in as original condition as possible

Now I have started looking at for sale ads, and auction listings.
I will probably make a run at buying one in the next couple of weeks.

So cool that these 130yr old rifles are still out there and in shootable condition.

Make sure you cast your own bullets, too. Going that route might as well go all in.

Not to derail this thread but I see the scope listed on this rifle as a Steiner H6xi. What do you think about it?

Haven’t done the eval on it- no drops, etc. So far it’s working fine- but very light use.

That boat paddle 7 mag will kick the snot out of you, just fyi
Yeah I've heard they aren't too fun to shoot, but the vibes win out on this one lol. I've got other stuff that I shoot more often, so it's okay if this one hurts a bit

Lately pre 1970 Winchester 94’s, some seekins, mk12 mod’s of various flavors, I need none of them, safes are full, full… but it’s never stopped me before. Really want a 6arc bolt but will probably rebarrel instead of buy new, way easier to justify to the wife haha

What happened in 2013?
Updated trigger. Pre 2013 had more adjustability (lighter pull). I’m no expert on their history and maybe there were other updates. The trigger on mine is fantastic and has me wanting to buy the KRG version for one of my tikkas. 2 stage on a bolt gun is legit

Got a 7RM Waypoint earlier this year. Couple of my friends have them in 300WM and absolutely love them. The action is so smooth, the stock is very comfortable and it's a great looking rifle as well. I don't think I've had over a 1" group. I liked it so much, I bid on (and won) a Redline 2020 in 6.5CM. Equally as nice in a lighter weight package.

Gunbroker FTW, both times.
Yeah, I have not heard of too many unhappy people who have got one. Everything about them seems to fit the bill. I have some nice PRS rifles in 308 and 6.5cm, but I am not on deployment anymore and don’t feel like jumping them around.

1. Terminus Apollo action- I realize I would fine using a Tikka action if I have a rifle put together. But always wanted to try one.

2. Benelli ethos or save a bit more try Beretta 686,

I’ve been eyeing a Seekins precision ph3 in 6creed. It’s a reality if I want it to be.

I have a 1993 Ruger boat paddle in .243 I was recently gifted by an old friend who's hunting days are done.
Its pretty sweet shooting in such a light caliber but unfortunately the precision is seriously lacking as the steel barrel looks very average.

They're such an iconic rifle, I'm drooling over the thought of a new barrel in 6mm Creedmoor and then keep hunting hard for many more years with it.

I really want to find a nice 16 or 20 gauge SxS, something with replaceable chokes that could be a do all shotgun.
