What are the boot dryer options?

My uncles use the Peets for elk hunts, but the propane one is finicky. The backpackers use the Grakksaw.

Any other options that are electronic? Propane? Batteries? I need to get something for elk camp this year. I can look on google but wanted something from this community that has been used.

If you have power, the dryguy boot dryers are the best I have used. I use mine during snowmobiling season for gloves and boots.

I would also try to find a new sock, boot, and gaitor combo that keeps your feet dry instead of relying on a boot dryer.

What's finicky on the propane?

Mine takes a bit to purge but once that's done it is easy to light.

We have a generator sometimes. I run Crispis, kuiu gators and darn tough socks...the issue is sweaty feet.

The Peets does not always stay lit for us. I think I will go with the Grakksaw and bring a power bank and solar charger.

Keep in mind Peet and other use circulation and some heat to dry,, Grakksaw is pure circulation, so really only work if you have a warm/dry environment to pull air from (like the top of a teepee or such)

Reviving this old thread, and not sure what, if anything, has changed. Interested in a set of battery powered (ie away from truck or electrical outlet) boot drier for wx with below-freezing nights. Hot tent, but not sure how hot it’ll be or for how long. Has anyone found a particular model they like for this use?

Not aware of any battery powered boot dryers. Any dryers that have to heat up to work well will probably be a drain on batteries even rechargeable lithiums. I use the Peet electric dryers. I have the Cabelas model that is made by Peet. It also came with a pair of small modules that slide into the boot and you plug it in. Works really well, and a lot easier to pack the standup model.

I dont know how to link an old thread. Search for

Homemade Backcountry Boot Dryer

I followed his plan and made a couple sets. They work and they are quiet. May not dry a boot you filled with water.

@Legend you can just paste the url from the old thread into a new post. those look like the graksaw ones. I dont have a printer and not interested in diy in this case. However I would be very interested in how well they dry boots in cold temps, as Im guessing that would apply to the graksaw ones as well. Im in a very wet area, frequent mandatory cross swamps and open water while hunting, so I use rubber knee boots. Keeps my feet dry but theres definitely moisture from my feet. Nighttime temps usually 20’s-30’s. Any thoughts on how these work in this case?

Thanks for the link. Yes these are a gracksaw knockoff.

Lot's of variables in how fast these will dry a boot. If you are in a humid area it will take a long time/maybe never. If you have a hot tent then the humidity level will be very low inside and they will work.

To test mine I took a boot and filled it full of water and dumped them out. Then ran these overnight in my garage. I was pleased with the amount of moisture removed in a 10hour dry time. They work better than any other idea I have seen/tried. Not completely dry but certainly goog enough. This was a worse case fill your boot scenario.

Temp will play a role but even in cold temps they will work. I am just guessing but if you have enough battery and ran them every night I think they will dry the sweat out even if it is cold.

Those around-the-neck dual rechargeable fans on amazon work better than they should for the price.
