Bought my wife the new UL frame this year with cargo panel and some various pockets. It has been a serious game changer for her and an super glad I spent the money! In day pack mode it's perfect for her but when she adds a dry bag with her camp gear it starts getting too thick and moves weight that is in the pockets attached to the cargo panel to far out from her body. I want to add a lid for her to move the weight back closer to her back. I'm thinking of a guide lid because I like the loops on top where she could have a pocket if she wants etc.. But it's size is a little overkill as is the longhunter lid. I know through some of my searching through all the packs on the Kifaru site that there was another smaller capacity lid like 650ci if I remember right but I don't know if it will fit her pack. I know I can call them but I thought I'd throw it out here too. What's your thoughts?

I'd take the versatility and design of the guide lid over the any other Kifaru lid. Yes, the 1200ci is big (and greatly appreciated when you need it) but just fill it with what you need. It's a vast improvement in design and function over the lids from the past.

I'll +1 this. The guide lid is one of the most versatile and useful pieces of Kifaru gear I have had to date. That's over 8 years of Kifaru gear. It's light, functional on the pack and can be used like backpack like it was designed for. Unlike the long hunter lid which was also designed as a lumbar pack but it never worked out great for me.

And at a great price point. The guide lid has replaced my E&E bag. It swallows gear and can accept belt pouches inside and out for organization.

So that being said, the guide lid will work with your frame and cargo panel. There are pictures and a video of Aron running this set up too.
