Tikka t3x the best option? or..
Bergara MG lite?.. savage 110 ultralite? I like the idea of a folding stock too.. hmm

Looking for recommendations.. carrying on backpack at times.. hiking in a few miles..

also what scope for good low light and durable?? thanks so much!

I drank the koolaid here and it works so good. Tikka T3X, maven rs 1.2 mil, UM rings, Rokstok. It’s a phenomenal gun.

Any questions on these components let me know. Also a budget would help your search..

I did the same minus the Rokstok. Cut to 18" and suppressed. It's a dream to shoot. Just killed an elk with the 147s, he didn't go 20.

A Tikka 6.5 PRC has an annoying extended 5 round magazine sticking out the bottom.
Not if you get the metal factory tikka mag. Honestly surprised more don’t use them- much cleaner and more low profile

I actually like a magazine that hangs down, I carry the gun muzzle down in front of the magazine and it stops it sliding forward.

I’ll snap a photo tomorrow - I fit my 147 eldm 6.5 PRC ammo in. It doesn’t sit flush like some other options - it still hangs slightly below

One thing I found with the 6.5PRC... They don't like to eject when you run the bolt. I had a Bergara rifle that was great, but it would constantly jam. Spent rounds would fall back on top of the magazine. I complained about it and Bergra bought the rifle back from me, so I bought a Browning X Bolt in 6.5 PRC. Exact same issue...

After some research, I found companies like Seekins do a recessed receiver cut, which allows more clearance for the brass to get clear of the receiver. Instead of milling out my receiver, I opted for a double ejector in my Browning. That cured me of my issue.

So, before you commit, I would make sure you can cycle the bolt and eject brass in a hunting situation. Otherwise, make sure to check MOA guarantees... Browning is 1.5MOA (which I think is kinda garbage for a $1500 rifle). Bergara is 1MOA.

All MOA guarantees from large manufacturers are pretty much nonsense because they only insist on three shot groups. Any rifle can occasionally stack three rounds in a decent group.
