Leaving tomorrow for wy and it Looks like we're going to have some wet weather this year. I haven't yet experienced bad weather in the backcountry yet. I'm going to pack a light weight tarp and an extra shirt. Is there anything else I should have or any advice you guys can give me. To prepare for this as best as possible? Thanks for any advice.

Bring an axe or a saw. Especially if you are solo as a fire is almost like a tv and a hunting buddy in the backcountry.

The question I have is how does one effectively deer hunt in lousy weather. I got socked in for five days last year so spot and stalk was out and every time I hiked to a ridge top I got chased off by lightening. Unless a deer walked thru my camp to warm up by the fire I didn't really have a plan??

X2 though you can just break stuff most of the time.

I'd also make sure to have paracord for a clothes line of some sort to dry your clothes, ours this year was invaluable. Make sure your boots are sealed or they take forever to dry. A neck buff to keep water off your neck the next day when its falling off the trees.

a small tarp rigged above the opening of your tent or over a common area can be nice. it also useful pitched high in the wind with wet clothes underneath so they can dry in the breeze.
sometimes being wet is inevitable, focus on wet and warm. wet isnt an issue til its wet and cold..
