Looking for information on hunting western Oklahoma WMA's. I have scouted Sandy Sanders for two days and did not see a lot of sign and not see a deer. Considering Black Kettle and Beaver River. Anyone have any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not much help on specifics. Black Kettle has reputation for good hunting. I turkey hunted there years ago and saw deer (spring time).

I would say depending on the week(s) or seasons you are looking at hunting will probably dictate what the best choice would be. PM me if you've got specific questions.

Thanks for the responses guys I appreciate it.

I appreciate that a couple of the black kettle units were near packsaddle.

Black kettle has fair numbers of deer. I've seen plenty of deer while turkey hunting there. A friend of mine has taken some monsters on private land that borders Black Kettle. I doubt the deer pay attention to property lines.

You might also look on the ODWC website to find OLAP places too. From my son’s experience, they’re not usually hunted as hard as WMA’s.

We have killed deer on all of those WMA's mentioned. Probably the most on kettle, but keep in mind non of those places are secrets. Last year during deer rifle had over 800 trucks counted. That being said our camp still killed multiple deer. If you are looking to meat hunt you should be successful on any of those. My advice would be to pick the one that you like with the most comfortable camping arrangements for you and spend as much time as possible scouting it and learn every square inch of it. There are deer on every unit of kettle so I like that place, if your #1 spot is occupied its easy to bounce to numbers 2-10 etc..
