I'm late to the party but I lived in a Western AK bush community for 22 years. The last 10 years or so we were there we hunted as you will being dropped of at a lake. The boat will be a great asset for you. I recommend not tromping all over the country. Cruise the lakeshore in early AM. Stay close to the lake if not on it and call. No object in spreading your sCent all over. It may take some time but a bull in season will come readily to the call even if he has to come from literally miles away.
