Theres a guy on youtube, I believe Blue Ridge Hunting, or something similar, that has good advice on VA, WV mountain hunting.

You may want to read up on the regulations very well, but I believe that they started an earlier season for the areas that don’t allow dog hunting. In an area with a decent bear density a white oak patch would be a pretty high odds bet at that point in the fall.
