Can anybody offer any insight to this area? Particularly Bald Mt. Mendicant Ridge?
Pressure, herd, access. We are coming out on the 14th to hunt the Uncompahgre. I really want to scoot in and check this area out. If it's really not worth it for whatever reason we will skip it. Thanks in advance

been there done that got the shirt you can have mine. access is really good that is the problem all the way up to the lake there are camps every 200 yards, I was one of 5 at the top for a week and there was at least 3-4 groups of hunters would come by are camp every day either on foot or by mule, Are neighbors where some locals, penn, wisc, texas, and Oklahoma. nice country Bald mtn down will kick your but and water is not everywhere fyi. good luck if ya go there was a army of orange on top of baldly..

oh yea I forgot to mention the whole area had been grazed down by cattle and they where riding around everywhere trying to load cattle up...

Pretty much sounds like a nightmare, especially if you showed up not expecting it and you were committed to the area for whatever reason.

I'm nowhere near drivable roads when I'm hunting, so I don't see much of the above, but one year I was driving with friends to checkout the spot they were hunting and the road was lined with camps....I didn't say anything, but I sure was glad I was hunting elsewhere.
