Well, factory ammo isnt all bad...

So I have a tikka t3x varmit that I'm trying to get a handload worked up for, wanted to try some barnes bullets too so I ordered some 50gr tsx's. Varget powder, seated to the bottom of the first band. All group about an inch 34.5, 34.8, 35, 36 gr
Barnes box said 1:12 twist, I'm 1:14. All were about an inch, top right was a flyer, had a bullet that the plastic tip was out a touch. The bottom target? Well that's 3 in .28. That's winchester grey box 55gr stuff. I mounted a scope, cause it was last wearing a thermal, had 7 factory rounds left, used them to zero. Bugger really likes that factory stuff... thing is im considering pulling the barrel cause I want a 1:8 twist to shoot heavies.

Gonna try some 55 gr varmegedon soon and 55 soft points, see if they group.

Guess I'm getting picking when I'm under an inch and not liking the load.

Assuming this is a 22-250 based on powder charge? There is nothing that says factory ammo can’t shoot more than adequate, especially for varmint hunting. In today’s world most decent factory ammo is fairly consistent and if your gun likes it then shoot it

The 53gr vmax is generally a good load in a 14 twist. 50s you can really get zipping in a 250, I’ve had some great loads with varget and 53s in a 22-250
