Multiples of our writers have reviewed their gear over the years and have been pretty happy with it.

We think you guys will too Please give them a welcome

Thanks Robby,

Excited to finally be on Rokslide - it’s been a long time coming! We’re a small, independently owned company, doing our best to create highly functional, lightweight backpacking gear and clothing systems. With a focus on ultralight backpacking gear, we find from our own hunting experience that a lot of the gear we use on long distance backpacking trips is equally effective for backpack hunting.

I’m Brigham - I manage design & development at OV. I’m a backpack hunter, though I spend a lot more time backpacking than I do hunting my 3 to 4 tags a year. I apply what I see in the field to the products being developed. Any product we release is a product that I have personally used for months - usually years - of testing in the field.

For me, it doesn’t get much better than a backpack hunt. I learned the value of hunting out of a pack the first season I had a mule deer tag. I spent one day bouncing around on a 4-wheeler rack with my buddy’s grandpa and that was enough. I’ve been self propelled ever since.

I’m really looking forward to interacting with the folks on Rokslide! I’d rather under promise and over deliver, but I hope to provide meaningful and helpful information about our gear, how it’s developed, and how it might help you be effective in the field. I’ll do my best to answer any and as many questions as I can, so feel free to ask.

I had the opportunity to test a few prototypes this past season that were a collaboration of Outdoor Vitals and Steve Speck from EXO. Some of you may have seen the outerwear that they wore on the Experience Project videos from the Caribou and Moose hunts in Alaska.

The materials, fit and designs of the pieces I’ve used have been fantastic. One piece in particular has become my absolute favorite mid layer.

I have one of their older puffy jackets and still take it every year hunting! Welcome OV

Any word when the product line will be available to the general public?

As of now we’re planning on releasing the line in the first week or two of August. Pushing for the last couple days of July.

Keep an eye on the clothing forum next week. I’ll be sharing details about that project and each piece.

I have a pair of their zip-away base layers bottoms. IMO, they are the sweet spot for design (above boot length) and merino weight (200 gsm).

I'm really excited for you guys! I absolutely love that you're working with Exo and if they'll work with you guys that gives me all the confidence I need to have full trust in your products!

Really been happy with OV products. Own a number of pieces...baselayers, jacket, sleeping pad, quilt. All lightweight and technical fabric & finish. Jumped in on their 100 Mile Hike Challenge this year.

I’ve have one of their zero degree bags, it’s excellent for the money!

I sleep as cold as anyone and it’s been solid to 10-15 degrees for me with some base layers on.
