Shooting a ChillR 72# @ 28"
VICTORY VAP 300's cut to 28"
Deep Six insert (20 grains) 100 grain head

Paper tunes perfectly, havent tried broadheads yet.Shot outside tonight, arrows are corkscrewing to the target. Didnt notice it inside for some reason?

Have arrows fletched with right helical, both 3 and 4 fletched with Blazers.

Im stumped, have no idea what to do to fix this, anybody with some advice I'm all ears.

Thanks

I have guys come in all the time with this "issue". Most of the time your eye is just catching the different vane colors in rotation which creates a "corkscrewing" visual effect.

I meant fitment with string serving. Maybe to tigh of fit. Do you see it at twenty yards or just the longer shots?

I initially thought it was the different colored vane, but one of the 4 fletch arrows all the blazers are white.

I did not notice the corkscrew at 20, showed up @ 30-80 yards

Usually helps to have someone watch from behind. Shooters can get tricked by their own arrows quite often. Also maybe trying pushing your paper back and shoot through it at a longer distance and see what happens.

Another way to know would be to screw a broadhead on and let her rip.

My buddy was watching from directly behind me, and also from the side, noticed the corkscrew as well.
Should have the deep six Slick Tricks in real soon, I will try them and see what happens.

I wonder if I am over spined and just got a false reading with paper tuning.

I will try and bareshaft and see what that comes up with

Hey Jacob,

Few things can cause this. #1 is the Optical illusion is the most common but sounds like you eliminated that. So Bow Torque can cause it, fletching contact, arrow spine inconsistent. even something like to much glue on one side of your arrow insert can cause this. Does it do it for every shot? Or only some of the arrows?

Try moving up to the 340s and see if you have the same issue.
Also you said above

So your drawing 28" and shooting a 28" Arrow? Im sure its a typo but wanted to clarify. =)

I will double check vane clearance tonight if I can, and shoot bareshaft if there is no contact.

Im fairly confident that I am not torquing upon release but I will clear that up as well.

Thanks for all the advice!

Have you confirmed there is no vane contact on the rest or cables?

i vote this^^.

in my very limited experience. if i (as the shooter) can see the corkscrew flight, it's pretty bad. pretty bad, usually means fletch contact somewhere.

i like lipstick. not wearing it..but put a tiny bead on the edges of the vanes..i shows up everywhere you have contact.

remember, to screw DOWN the lipstick before putting the lid back on. or your wife will yell, when you crush the tip down. dont ask me how i know.

This. Try shooting broad heads or shooting through paper at 30 yards to prove it to yourself. I had to do it on mine... I switched to bright yellow vanes, the place I shoot is in a tunnel of trees and the shadow/bright/shadow made it look like the damn things were about to start tumbling.
