Weird draw results in Idaho

A family member of mine didn’t draw an unlimited deer tag in Idaho, he chose first choice and is a resident. Why could that be? It says “not selected”.

Did he draw an antlered deer controlled hunt tag last year?

Doesn’t matter. Extra and unlimited tags are exempt from the year you have to sit out after drawing a tag.

Mistakes happen. They sent my dad two of the same elk tags, different tag numbers. He had to reach out quite a few times to get them to straighten it out.

I would reach out to them until you have a sufficient answer.

Let us know what he finds out. According to the IDGF drawing odds statistics, the total number of permits for that unit increased by 20% for 2025 (2252 permits) vs 2024 (1876 permits). It's a huge increase and likely because the adjacent unit no longer has a general rifle season as it got turned into a muzzleloader only season.

He actually put his NR son in with his residents son. So it was operator error the whole time! That was my first question but he said he put them in separate.

Thanks for letting us know, most the time it does fall on the applicant error, but as we all know, fish n game has messed up before.
