Anyone have a weight on the newer versions of the dt1/dt2? Just curious how close the weight is to each other now that the snow collar has been cut off the dt1.. I'm guessing only 2-3 oz??

Thanks man! Wondering how the weight is effected with no snow collar but bigger front and side pockets.. Probably a wash? lol

I think you were right in that it is only a few ounces. 3 or 4 is my guess. I was curious if it is still a 7200 cu pack or maybe less. I can't imagine all of the space from the snow collar removal went to the pockets.

I saw a post from aron that said the new BT1 was still about 1300 ish cu larger than a DT2. With that said, it should put the DT1 at around 6500 cu. Or a lost of about 700cu?

So granted my scale may not be the most accurate but it weighed in at 3# 3oz....I thought it would have been a little less. Maybe it is a wash after all and that is why they did not update the website specifications.

Thanks for weighing it!

What lid did you have on it when you weighed it?

They have it listed at 3lb 2oz WITH a 3.5oz lid.. So 4.5 oz heavier after shortening snow collar?? Dang, they must have added quite a bit of material to the pouches and sleeves unless I'm misreading the weights!

Just realized I had a medium pouch attached to the bag..so let's just pretend that is the lid since they should weigh the same. Still no net loss though.

Mine is 3 lbs 4 oz with the standard lid. I think the listed weights are for coyote. The camo colors tend to add a bit of weight to the bags. My bag is Hylander.

The current size of the bag hasn't really changed from the original.

We added a lot of space to the side and back pockets, so that pretty much equaled things out.

If you fill the original up with beans (it takes a lot of them) with the snow collar closed, you pretty much have all the available space for the pack. This is because the main bag when full takes away the usable space of the pockets.

When you do the same thing with the new version, you actually have a significant amount of usable space in each of the side and back pockets and that equals out what is now missing from the snow collar.

Hopefully this makes some sense, but I can promise you the size is almost exactly the same (when using beans) to figure out the CI of the packs.

How big is the main bag of the new DT1? Trying to decide if I want to go back to a DT1 from my EMR II but I know I definitely used up enough space to utilize the snow collar when I had the original.

If you wanted to swap from the EMRII, I would say the AMR is a better option if you need the space.

if the original DT1 wasn't big enough, this one won't be a lot different, as the CI is basically the same. The AMR's main bag is a good bit larger than the DT1 and the back pockets are larger as well.
