Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these rifles? They weight between 6 1/2 and 6 3/4 pounds and come with a sub-moa guarantee. Looks like great components for a budget rifle.

Im considering a .300 topped with a VX3i. Should be under 8 pounds and $1200 all in.

I think the new Vanguard models are nice rifles - Weatherby (Howa in this case I believe) was smart to go with a 3 function safety, an outright blunder for other companies not to IMO - While not an "ultra" lightweight their trend heads in the correct direction

Thanks GK, I agree the three position safety. Im pretty sure all the vanguard actions are machined by Howa (which i hear does really great machining by the way). I think the weight, while not being a true lightweight will be about just right in the .300 flavor.

I've handled one in .240 WBY and was very impressed. Handy rifle and about as light as you'll find in the WBY calibers without getting a Mark V or custom.

I own a Vanguard Wilderness in 257 Weatherby, it is identical to the Vanguard Backcountry minus the cerakote.
The accuracy is fine and the stock is nice (to me at least).

I believe mine is 7 pounds with a Leupold 6x36 fx2 and Warne rings. It is becoming my favorite backpack rifle.

The stocks are identical on the current models, both carbon fiber with full length aluminum bedding blocks.

Maybe the color varies but it also the same stock that comes on the Range Certified models as well.

Is this the same barreled action?? If it is look for codes for more discounts. I think they have a $20 off and free shipping.

Pokey how does that thing do with weather in the mountains? Rust up at all?

I emailed weatherby a few months back asking about these two rifles and was told the stocks were different. Maybe it's been changed for the latest models.
