Clickbait title. The actual question is if anyone is running some kind of packable rubber boot for mountain hunting? My area can see some fairly deep creek crossings up in the mountains, especially during Spring bear. I was thinking that something like these:

could be really nice to throw in my day pack.

I bring my Muck boots everywhere I go but not to actively hunt in. They're great around muddy camp sites and parking lots, and I can see the appeal, but they allow too much heel movement to hike in for more than a few miles. I know this for a fact because one year I fractured my heel just before a pack-out and they were the only boots that would fit over the swelling so I could get the job done. Obviously YMMV with another brand or style of "wader".

If you are just doing day hunts just get wet. If you plan on hiking in and staying then I would still probably rather just get wet than pack in another pair of waterproof footwear. If the creek is shallow enough to not flow over the top of a pair of rain boots then there has got to be a way across it.

Awesome, those socks seems about perfect. I try to keep my feet tough enough for barefoot crossings, so with those socks it would be no issue.
